Jewison Bennette made just two appearances during a loan spell at Greek club Aris FC.

Jewison Bennette’s loan spell at Greek club Aris FC has ended early following an injury setback.

The 19-year-old was loaned out to the Super League side in January but made just two appearances before sustaining a muscle tear. Aris have two league games remaining this season, before the Greek Cup final against Panathinaikos, yet Bennette won’t be involved.

Costa Rican journalist Kevin Jimenez reports, “Bennette will not continue at Aris FC, the Costa Rican winger will return to Sunderland in the pre-season to define his future.”

Sunderland had always planned for Bennette to return in pre-season. The 19-year-old signed a four-year contract, with a club option of an extra year, when he joined the Black Cats in 2022. Bennette’s first-team opportunities were limited at the start of this season, though, with the teenager making just one appearance in the Championship before his loan move.
