Sunderland have confirmed that 10,000 spectators will be allowed to attend their play-off semi-final second leg against Lincoln at the Stadium of Light – with tickets set to go on sale from 10am on Wednesday May 12.

2020/21 season ticket holders will have first priority on tickets which will be available via the club’s website and WON’T be on sale via telephone or in-person at the Stadium of Light ticket office.

Should any tickets remain available, 2021/22 season ticket holders will then be able to buy tickets from 10am on Friday, May 14.

Many supporters feel the system is the fairest way possible – even if it means they won’t be able to attend.

Here are some of the responses from social media.

@Reece_Benson: Fairest way, probably means I won’t be able to get one but whoever decided to stick with their season card last season deserves it

@sniff91: Wey good luck to those who kept their season cards, only fair. Doubt I'll have much chance but hey ho.

@joey__burton__: There's no completely fair way to do it. Good luck everyone for tomorrow morning...

@fiona2608: I can’t wait to be back, but also I know I’m going to be an absolute nightmare nerves wise

@Deggsytweets: No one can argue with that approach but I’m sure some will find fault

@daveybrown426: Fairest way of doing it well done SAFC, I have renewed for next season, but did not for this season, so would not expect to get tickets

@bobbyspout: Well done for the approach taken for this. The fairest way possible.

@dj_lozza: I agree with this. I may miss out but my fault for not renewing

@hulkcass10: Would of been nice to reward people who bought every single home and away game and not stream , I had to cancel due to covid like most did but it is what it is

@jamie_davison1: Wish I could go, it’s been too long. Can’t wait to be back home eventually
