Sunderland Coastguard called out after fishing boat runs aground at Seaburn beach

The Sunderland Coastguard were called to Seaburn beach just around 4.45pm on Tuesday, May 11, after receiving reports that a fishing vessel had ran aground after suffering mechanical difficulties.
When coastguard officers arrived at the scene, the owner had already left after securing the vessel.

Hide AdFollowing a number of checks, volunteers were satisfied that the public were not in danger and that there were no signs of pollution.
A spokesperson for the Sunderland Coastguard said: “Coastguard officers were called out this afternoon to reports of a fishing vessel that had ran aground on the beach at Seaburn after mechanical difficulties.
“On arrival the owner of the vessel had already left the scene after securing the vessel. Satisfied that no lives were at risk and no signs of pollution were found, the team were stood down and it was left with the owner.”
