Sunderland's Premier League future looks bleaker than ever before after a 0-0 draw at home to Burnley left the Black Cats seven points from safety.

David Moyes’ men are up to 20 points, with just 10 games to go. Crystal Palace’s win over Watford – Sunderland’s next opponents on April 1 – lifted them eight points above the Black Cats, dropping Swansea into fourth-bottom spot, ahead of their late kick-off at Bournemouth.

Here’s how Sunderland fans reacted on Twitter to a disappointing draw against a Burnley side who are still to secure an away win all season.

@scatch21: Dropping N’Dong today was a phenomenally bizarre decision along with his treatment of Khazri all season is staggering! Clown Moyes

@gfosterjourno: I hope I’m wrong but the calorifically challenged lady may be warming up in the wings

@Im__ArnieKeena: Its #MissionImpossible now.. 7 points from safety #GoingDown

@josephmccabe: Moyes out. Most pathetic manager we’ve had since Howard Wilkinson. If Moyes gets sacked this week we have a slim chance

@phil_browell: March 18th & the season is over. Cheers Dave

@Charles_Anderso: Missed three clear cut chances cos they didn’t fall to Defoe. Reason number 1 Sunderland are going down.

@CallumBradfield: We’re definitely going down

@Markfergusonuk: The games just aren’t there to stay up. It would required the greatest of escapes and this team don’t have it in them

@TomCurry_14: And there ya go, goodbye premier league

@Hixxee: Strange to think one of the few I would consider keeping next season is Jack Rodwell

@out4alaugh: I didn’t get to the match today and I still was more of a threat than Fabio Borini to the Burnley keeper by the sound of it

@CoxaBrava9: Doomed

@MJacko1989: Clear lack of ideas and ability amongst that #safc side today! Blame lies with Moyes for me!

@BlackcatsLee25: Attitude of some of our players is an outrage. No fight or desire towards the end there whatsoever. Please end this season asap

@JHaySAFC: Apparently we’re down? Then again we’re down every season according to every one this time of year.

@aamroyal: Don’t see how anyone can have any confidence in Moyes bringing us up, he’s a national laughing stock, that will make many a broken man

@FUTWIZ_Pricey: Seven points from safety. SEVEN. This is the season.

@Leigh_Warin: Midfield and defence virtually non-existent.

@cowanscrack: Hopefull moyes will be gone. Need some type of optimistic approach to games.

@bywater_paul: Tell you what tho that linesman on the east stand today was easily the worst linesman ive seen all season clueless was embarrassing

@KerrieWilkinson: Well, we deserve this. “Competing” in PL with Jones, Gibson, Larsson, Jones etc. It doesn’t scream spirit & dynamism - just relegation

@KrisCoxon: I have a feeling Ellis Short is going to pull the trigger on Moyes!

@Adam_Johnson77: Next season should be exciting, a trip to Burton Albion’s shed on a Tuesday night

@WiseMenSayPod: Been critical of Januzaj this season but felt for him today. Players giving him the ball and expecting him to make everything happen

@kenfarn23: I honestly believe it will get a lot worse before it possibly gets any better!#safc

@TheCentreLeft: The coverage football fans around the country see tonight will not fully convey what a joke of a team we are. Absolutely lifting.

@sie_ftm: Noticeable mood swings amongst loyal supporters today, taking this result as season defining
