Person died after emergency services called to reports of casualty on railway track between Sunderland and Hartlepool
Emergency services were called to the train track near Crimdon Dene viaduct to reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene and their death is not being treated as suspicious.

Hide AdA spokesman for the British Transport Police said: “We were called to the line near Hartlepool at 9.26am this morning (Monday, April 12) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Officers are working to identify the deceased and inform their next of kin.
“This incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
Trains between Sunderland and Hartlepool were cancelled for a number of hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.
Trains have resumed on April 12.
