This is why these iconic Sunderland landmarks will be lit yellow
Sunflower Day will be taking place on Friday, June 21, to raise awareness for the work local hospice’s do in the region.
St. Benedict's Hospice, in Ryhope, will be asking people to wear yellow and donate to the hospice to show their continued support for the charity.

Hide AdLocal landmarks will be glowing yellow to mark this day. These include Penshaw Monument, Northern Spire Bridge, Fulwell Mill, Cliffe Park Lighthouse, Keel Square, and High Street West. Other events happening across the day include a large BBQ at Wearside Audi on Newcastle Road.
Some local celebrities have also got in the spirit of the event too. Tynemouth-born actress, Denise Welch shared a video on Twitter encouraging people to donate to the hospice and to wear yellow to show their support.
St. Benedict Hospice has been running since 1980, and offers palliative care to patients suffering from a wide range of conditions. These can be anything from cancer, renal disease, heart failure, or neurological conditions, but their focus is to provide care which offers a quality of life.
