Parents welcome ‘New Year’s Day miracle’ after six years of trying to have a baby
Elsie Mae Curry, born on Wednesday, January 1 at 3.04pm weighing 8lb 2oz has been described by her parents as a ‘New Year’s Day miracle’.
Mother Claire and father Martin, have been trying to have a baby for more than six years and are overjoyed with the arrival of baby Elsie.

Hide AdMartin, a bricklayer said: “This is massive for us, we’ve been trying for six years.
“I'm looking forward to being a dad and experiencing new things with Elsie.”
The couple who live on Ford Estate have now taken Elsie home, and are looking forward to being parents.
Martin added: “I want to say thank you to Claire for all her hard work and for bring Elsie into the world.”

Hide AdElsie was one of four babies born on New Year’s Day at Sunderland Royal Hospital, and hospital staff have worked hard to ensure that mothers and babies are happy, healthy and well-looked after. The first baby born was Rose McCormick, at 9.18am to parents Laura and Andrew McCormick.
The second was Floyd McDermott was born at 11.47am to parents Ashleigh and Adam McCormick and the third was Lennon Michael Atherton, born at 12.49pm to mother Neketa Atherton. All parents have reported feeling overwhelmed and are excited heading into 2020 with their new bundles of joy.
