Man airlifted to safety and taken to hospital with suspected broken ankle following fall on beach near Easington
The coastguard rescue helicopter was called to Shippersea Bay, near Easington, as teams struggled with challenging terrain following the recent bad weather.
The man, who is in his 50s, was taken to James Cook University Hospital with a ‘possible broken ankle’ after falling while walking on the beach.

Hide AdHartlepool Coastguard Rescue Team alongside Seaham Coastguard duty officers attended the incident at around 12.50pm on Sunday, February 16.
A spokesman for the coastguard said: “Once the casualty was located, casualty care was administered and the casualty was packaged into our stretcher.
“Due to the recent bad weather the terrain was very challenging and decided that the best extraction method was best done using the aid of Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 912.”
