Hairdressing students crowned champions at regional competition
They travelled to Gateshead’s Federation Brewery for the event, and came away with eight medals.
The students were competing against 15 other colleges from Scarborough to Northumberland.

Hide AdThe college picked up three first place gold medals, which went to students Georgia Leadbetter in the Men’s Commercial Cut, Tao Marie Evans in the fantasy category and Joanne Palmer, Bethany Mcevoy and Summer Scotter in the team
bridal category.
Abbey Johnson, won a second place medal with Eboni Robb, Kaitlyn Gibson, Michael Coulson and Louise Harper collecting third place bronze medals.
The team are now preparing for the National AHT 2015 finals at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens on March 13-14.
East Durham College hairdressing lecturer Angela Johnston praised the students, saying: “It was another great performance by the team at the AHT event in Gateshead this year.

Hide Ad“All the students put in fantastic performances and it was a brilliant feeling to see them come home with a host of medals.
“Now we are getting the team prepared for the nationals in Blackpool, it’s a huge event, and we will be up against some brilliant colleges from all across Britain.
“We performed really well last year and I hope we can shine once again at the event this year.”
