Burn's Night was celebrated with supper in Bede's Bakehouse at the Chapter House, St Peter's Church on Monday, January 25. Haggis, neeps and tatties were served after the haggis was piped in and addressed. A very enjoyable evening.

First Roker District Brownies meet every Wednesday in term-time in Seaburn New Church between 5pm and 6pm. Rainbows are girls between five and seven years. They play games and have various activities and crafts. Anyone interested, phone Christine on 5652547 or 07719181262.

Seaburn Probus Club meets in Roker Methodist Church, at the junction of Lonsdale Road and Roker Park Road, tomorrow at 10am. New members would be very welcome.

Wearside Field Club will meet on Tuesday, February 9, at 7.30pm in Fulwell Community Centre, Chapman Street. Speaker will be Tony Devos talking about Limestone Landscapes. Next walk will be on Saturday, February 20, a Rising Sun, led by Brian Gray. Meet at Park Lane Interchange at 10am.

Roker United Reformed Church Fellowship will meet on Tuesday, February 9, at 2pm. Speaker will be Eric Waugh with slides of Oban – Mull. All are welcome to join them.

Fulwell WI had a very enjoyable January meeting with seven new visitors and three new members joining. Members all had healthy snacks and Jill, the secretary, gave a talk on hidden sugars. Members are all looking forward to their beauty day at the Hylton Centre, Lunch time liaison at The customs House, Barnard Castle day trip and day trip to BBC studios. All ladies are welcome to go for £1 for three visits which includes tea and homemade cakes.

St Andrew’s Snooker Club welcomes new members, over 18 years. The club is situated at the west end of Priestman hall up two flights of stairs. It is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6.45pm to 10pm, also Wednesday afternoons from noon to 4pm. For further details, ring Peter on 5482437 or Brian on 5292179.

A Fulwell ward surgery will be held in Fulwell Library, Dene Lane, on Saturday from 10.30am–11.30am when one of the ward councillors, Howe, or Francis will be in attendance. Councillor Beck will be there from 10am-11am.

neSlimmers classes take place in Chapman Street Community Centre every Wednesday at 6pm. There is no joining fee, pay only as you attend. For more information go on to Facebook @ North East Slimmers.

Sunderland Public Libraries offers a home delivery service providing books and audio items to customers who are unable to access a library themselves, either due to age, ill health, disability or long or short term mobility problems. Wearside Photo Imaging is a small camera club of photographic enthusiasts, who meet on the first and third Wednesday of each month at Fulwell Community Association, Chapman Street, at 7pm. Activities are many and aimed at increasing knowledge in photography and image manipulation. New members are welcome.

Spanish classes for primary children, aged five to 11, are starting at Tesco Extra, Newcastle Road. Classes will be held every Monday during term-time from 4.30pm, starting on February 22.
