A wanted fugitive suspected of having breached his bail conditions was spotted on Wearmouth Bridge and arrested.

Northumbria Police were called to reports a wanted fugitive had been located in the area on Friday, November 27, and officers arrested a 27-year-old man.

One lane of the northbound carriageway was closed while officers made the arrest and was reopened shortly after.

A force spokesperson said: “Shortly before 7.50am today we received information about a wanted fugitive suspected to have breached his bail conditions.
