Sainsbury's delivery van stolen from The Galleries and driven across Sunderland before being dumped

The delivery van was stolen from The Galleries shopping centre in Washington and was later found dumped eight miles away in the Plains Farm area of Sunderland.
Officers received reports of the incident yesterday at around 4.15pm after the driver of the vehicle got out for a moment.

Hide AdAs the driver was briefly out of the vehicle, an offender jumped into the van and drove off with it.
Police have revealed that the van was later found on Premier Road, in the Plains Farm area of Sunderland, abandoned by the offender.
Officers say that inquiries into the incident are still ongoing and are urging members of public to come forward if they have any information.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly after 4.15pm yesterday we received a report that a delivery van had been stolen outside The Galleries, Washington.

Hide Ad“The driver got out of the van momentarily when an offender jumped into the vehicle and made off.
“An investigation was launched into the incident and the van was later found abandoned in the Premier Road area of Sunderland. Inquiries are ongoing.
