Man to appear in court over A19 crash which claimed the life of much-loved Sunderland dad Richard Jordan
and live on Freeview channel 276
Richard Gray Jordan, known as Richie, died of injuries he sustained when the white Mercedes car he was a passenger in was involved in a crash with a black Vauxhall Cora on the southbound carriageway of the route.
The collision happened three miles south of the A690 Durham Road junction shortly after 1.45am on Sunday, August 4, 2019.

Hide AdDuring an pre-inquest review hearing held at Sunderland Civic Centre earlier today, Tuesday, March 9, assistant senior coroner Karin Welsh led an update into proceedings, which was heard by Richie’s family, including his devoted partner Carol King.
She explained police inquiries had been carried out and information had since been passed to the Crown Prosecution Service, which has led to the preparation of charges relating to the incident.
As court proceedings and their conclusion are outstanding, the inquest for the 33-year-old dad-of-two from Grangetown was adjourned to a future date.
Northumbria Police, which investigated the collision, has since confirmed a man will face two charges in connection with the A19 incident.

Hide AdA force spokesperson said: “A 42-year-old man has been served with a postal requisition to appear before magistrates in South Tyneside to answer charges of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
“He is due to appear in court on May 6.”
A series of memorial events were held in his name as the city’s footballing community came together to remember him and pay respects.
Among the tributes to the dad, who also left parents Veronica and Mike and sister Olivia, Ryhope CW said: “All at Ryhope CW are deeply saddened & shocked to hear about the passing of Richie Jordan.
