Northumbria Police said officers visited various addresses across the city, including a property in Hendon which led to the arrest of a 40-year-old man who has been charged with burglary. He has appeared before magistrates in South Tyneside and has been remanded into custody ahead of his next appearance in January.

Police also arrested and interviewed a 51-year-old man in Hendon who was later charged with suspected criminal damage and is due to appear in court next week.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested in Southwick and has been charged with the alleged theft of a motor vehicle and two counts of burglary. He has been bailed and is due to appear before magistrates in January.

Detective Inspector Lee Underwood said: “We’ve been thrilled with the results over the last week, with a number of our longer-term wanted suspects pursued, located and detained.

“They were wanted in connection with a range of alleged crimes, but particularly some of the suspects had been linked to burglary and theft investigations ongoing in the area.”
