1. Silver Jubilee
Alex KershawI said: "I was born in Sunderland and lived there until I was three in Parklea Road. I still remember going to Roker Park, drinking out of the water fountain, I remember the street party for the Silver Jubilee and the butcher shop in Sea Road that had sawdust on the floor and the butcher used to give me a mint humbug whenever I went there with my mum." Swimming at the Newcastle Road baths in winter with my cousin Gwen Philliskirk. Searching through the bombed-out houses in the Monkwearmouth area where I lived." Photo: Sunderland Echo
